The main improvements of the ruby amp vs the little gem are new the input buffer a renovated volume control and an updated gain potentiometer.
The pcb allows to install a led with its resistor and an interesting modification to add a gain switch.

The solder tags on the pots point upwards and are bent over to solder to the exposed pads on the top edge of the pcb.

I just built the noisy cricket based on the ruby amp and wired it straight into a strandard 8ohm 8 midrange speaker and it worked just fine.

The architecture of the little gem has been updated with an input buffer as found in the little gem mkii feeding the inverting input and the volume control changed from the output rheostat to the type and placement as shown in the datasheet application notes.

I used eaglecad to design and place where the physical electronic components are sited on a piece of fr4 copper coated glass fibre sheet.
If i havent made any mistakes then it should be a quick and easy way to build a ruby amp.

I enjoy building battery amps and this board is the basis for where i begin my builds.
